For the first time in 3 years the Oldbury Power Station 10 mile race went ahead in almost perfect conditions with a chilly start but soon warmed up in the sun at start time of 10.30am. After the 2 mins silence for the passing of the Queen, the race got underway. It’s a sort of figure of 8 course around the country lanes of Oldbury on Severn in Gloucestershire and is about as flat as you can get. The number of runners was lower than in previous years -probably as a result of a crowded race calendar in September and October- with 136 runners finishing the course. There were 10 GWR runners who started with Callum unfortunately suffering an injury mid race. Notable GWR performances were Kelly Dicks, 2nd lady and 1st lady in the Avon Championships, Chris Taylor both first Male Vet70 in the race and Avon champion and Marcus Kropacsy first Make Vet45 in the Avon Champs.

All in all a well organised and long standing race from Thornbury running club and a good one to do for those who’d like to step up from 10k to Half Marathon.’
Cheers,
Ian
