The difficult second album! After the highs of the mob match the team were back to work once again to deliver a successful race two.
We had a few logistical issues to sort. Council works made one of the entrance paths unusable so a new route devised, and a last-minute course check revealed a rather large fallen tree branch at the 4k/6k point so that was safely removed so the race could go on as normal.
Numbers were a little down on the mob match with 109 starters, which was to be expected but the series numbers are still good, so we are expecting bigger numbers over the second half of the series as people make use of the great value the towpath is. The numbers are slightly up on previous years, so thank you again to all that continue to support us.
The pre-race brief delivered and at 19:30 the race field headed down the towpath once more for some 10k action.
After Aled Anderson’s victory last time out, it was his clubmate Timothy Swinn who was first across the line in 34:31, closely followed by Southville’s Graham Wadsworth (34:51), with Aled Anderson taking the final spot on the podium.
In the ladies’ race, unattached Camryn Cilliers took top spot in 41:04, followed by Helen West, of Bristol and West in 41:26 and our very own Lucy Ellis in 3rd female spot in 44:59.
