Footnotes -  Runner Profile - Steve P

What started you running?

I just wanted to keep fit. Ran the Henbury Half 25 years ago and got hooked

Why GWR?

Blame young Audrey

Why do you run now?

Partly to keep fit but mostly to keep Malcolm on his toes (me being the younger man)

How much do you run alone?

Twice a week

What do you carry with you when running?

At the moment – too much weight, but don’t usually carry anything.

Favourite route?

It’s got to be Sunday morning steady runs with Malcolm from Eastville Park, Snuff Mills, Frenchay Common

What attracts you to a race?

Plenty of hills but completing the event is the attraction

Most memorable prize you have won?

Tea/coffee coasters at the Bath Half

Biggest personal achievement?

After having my accident in the Cheddar Half, completing my 25th Consecutive Bath Half marathon this year has to be the biggest achievement as I didn’t think I could do it, but thanks to all the support from GWR I made it. A truly amazing show of single minded determination Eds

Pet hates about runners or race organisers or GWR?

Races starting late.

On the days you aren’t running, what do you do in your free time?

Look after my wife Lynn, gardening, down to the Gym at Horfield twice a week and dog walking for St Phillips Dogs home.

Do you suffer withdrawal symptoms when you can’t run? i.e. Are you addicted?

Yes. I’m addicted. If I can’t run I walk on Purdown..

What do your non running members of your family think of your habit?

I’ve got great support from my family. My son and daughters friends think I’m crazy.
